Azzi Fudd wins WNBA All-Star 3-point contest; Shakira Austin, Elena Delle Donne, GG Banks take Shooting Stars Challenge - Yahoo Sports

She is the first rookie to win the competition in the 13 times it has taken place. Fudd started off her final round strong, hitting all five balls in her first rack from the left corner and eventually swished 20 of 26 shots. She finished with 30 points, surpassing the 27 that Bridget Carleton tallied in the first round and setting a high bar for the Portland Fire forward to clear. That 30-point total also matched the winning tally that New York Liberty sharpshooter Sabrina Ionescu posted in last year's 3-Point Contest. Fudd earned $20,000 by winning the event, in addition to $40,000 from sponsor Aflac. All other participants received $10,000 each, though Carleton will earn $30,000 from Aflac, and third-place finisher Rhyne Howard will net an additional $15,000. Fudd and Carleton advanced past a field that included the Dream's Howard (20 points), the Toronto Tempo's Marina Mabrey (18), the Seattle Storm's Natisha Heideman (17) and the Golden State Valkyries' Janelle Salaün (19). Carleton had to score 30 to force a playoff and 31 to win the contest, but fell short with 19 points. The trio of Shakira Austin, Elena Delle Donne and high schooler Jezelle "GG" Banks, representing Washington, won the league's first four-team Shooting Stars challenge. Teams had 70 seconds to score from seven designated spots, each player shooting in order from the first location to the seventh. The spots progressed from a layup at the right side of the basket to the baseline, then a 3-pointer from the right wing, a shot from the top of the key, a 3 from the left corner and finishing with a long-range shot from the half-court logo worth 4 points. The other three teams in the challenge — composed of a current WNBA player, a WNBA legend and a high school star from the Nike EYBL — were as follows: Minnesota: Courtney Williams, Rebekkah Brunson, Ryan CarterSeattle: Flau'jae Johnson, Lauren Jackson, Tatianna GriffinDallas/Detroit: Jessica Shepard, Deanna Nolan, Morghan Reckley With 31 points in the final round, Team Washington defeated Team Seattle, which finished with 24. Each of the four players earned $15,000, while the participants in the challenge, excluding the high school players, received $7,500 apiece.
